This Andrew Thomson (1814-1901), author of biographies of Owen, Rutherford, Boston, etc, is not to be confused with Andrew Mitchell Thomson (1779-1831), minister of St George's Edinburgh. Strangely, though, the minister commemorated in this book was grandson of another Andrew Thomson (1744-1815) who ministered in the Anti-Burgher congregation of Sanquhar at the same time as Andrew Mitchell Thomson's father John ministered in Sanquhar Parish Church.
